Don’t miss Zinnie Harris’ contemporary reimagining of Aeschylus’ Oresteia trilogy, originally commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland and premiered by Glasgow’s Citizens Theatre. Juilliard Drama’s production of Agamemnon's Return from Oresteia: This Restless House is directed by Evan Yionoulis, Juilliard’s Obie Award–winning dean of the Drama Division.

We had many features in this production that required very specific organisational skills. Multiple characters were interacting with stage blood and rain, with multiple identical costume pieces that were painted, unpainted, and replicated to achieve the illusion of the offstage combat or a ghostly encounter.
Utilising color-coding and notations on every costume piece in the course of a character's journey was essential in ensuring every person interacting with Costuming understood what we were trying to achieve immediately.
As previously mentioned, this production featured quite a heavy interaction with stage blood. An exciting challenge we got to figure out was how to make a character miraculously bleed when hit with falling rain.
The process of surmounting this challenge involved many folks from the Props Dept. (led by Kate Dale) to our draping team (Jana Violante and Nell Walker). We created a kind of "blood bag bustier" that, when compressed under the arms, released into a set of winding IV tubing and through a squib positioned at the actor's sternum.
It took about 14 attempts to perfect this dramatic effect, competing with gravity, viscosity, and intensity seen from the stage.
